Political contributions and Elections Canada

Only Canadian citizens and permanent residents may contribute. The annual limit per individual is $1,725 CAD (2024, indexed annually). Corporations, unions, and foreign nationals are prohibited.

All contributions over $200 CAD are reported to Elections Canada and published in our annual financial returns. Your name, municipality, and province will be disclosed for contributions above this threshold.

We issue official tax receipts. The federal political contribution tax credit allows you to reclaim up to 75% of your first $400, 50% of the next $350, and 33.33% of the next $525 — maximum annual credit $650.

How we protect your data

All personal data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before storage. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (cost factor 12). We never store plaintext passwords or card details.

IP addresses are stored as one-way hashes only. Servers are hosted in Canada or the United States with equivalent protections.
